Charlotte
可是事实却不是这样,我们没被安排在同一家庭,那会,我们都在那伤心了好一会,Charlotte 说: “I am a little sad that we can’t go together.” “Me too.”
An Unforgettable Game
Hermione Su (Class4 Grade5)
During the time in CISV, we did lots of games. All the games have given us important lessons. One of them called Peace-War-Peace was especially unforgettable.
One day, our village director Jon said we were going to build a city with boxes, bottles and some paper. He divided us into 4 groups. Each group consisted of 11 members. He named the four groups as Love, Heart, Peace and Soul. I was in Soul. Jon told us after all the cities were finished, each group would act as a judge and gave a score to the other group. The full score was 25 and the lowest was 0.
Our group worked very hard to build our city. Our city had a brown church, a black apartment called ‘Life Houses’, a yellow city tower and a beautiful little park. When we finished, we went to give a score to the Hearts. The Hearts had a park, a river, a shopping mall, houses and even an airport. I thought it was a nice city. We gave them 20 points. Just then, Helena, one of our group members over heard that the Peace only gave our city 7 points. Oh, 7 points! Some people in our group were very angry. But some other people like Charlotte and Hedvig were calm. They thought we should respect the other’s decision even though they gave us only 7 points. Suddenly a messenger came and he said the Peace people destroyed our Soul city. They used their feet, hands to hit the buildings. When we heard that, some boys in our group were raged. They started to kick the Heart city. I used my feet to step on the building, too. Their flags were broken, their tall buildings were gone…… Finally all the city was destroyed. At that time, Charlotte and some other girls tries to stop us. Charlotte said, “ Don’t do that. It is silly to do that!” I said angrily’ “Why?” “Because they worked hard to build their city, they will be sad when they see it is destroyed.” “But the Peace destroyed our city!” I was still angry. “They are not right. You can talk to them. But if you destroy their city, you will be just like them.” Charlotte was really a nice girl! Suddenly, someone in our group said we had made a mistake because it was Peace destroyed our city, but we destroyed Heart’s city so the boys ran quickly to Peace’s city and wanted to take revenge by kicking their buildings away. But they were stopped by the leaders and the judges who were from the Love city. The boys came back unhappily.
Later, Jon called us together. He cried, “That’s not what the CISV should do!” He put his hands on his head. We understood we made a mistake, but it was no use. We had already done that. Finally, Jon asked us to go back to our own city and fix it, but not to use any tape. When I went back to see our city, I cried. It was completely destroyed. Most of the buildings were in the rubbish bin. It was so terrible! “Why did they do that!” I asked Andy, one of our leaders. Andy replied, “No reason. Just like you. Soul destroyed the Heart’s city. It’s the same thing!” I thought about what he said. There was very important information in it.
While we were fixing our city, the Hearts came and they brought their buildings and some plants to our city. We and the Hearts built a new city together. After that, we took our buildings to the Hearts. Finally all the cities came to the Hearts and we built a large city together. When we saw that, everybody cried.
At the end, Jon concluded: “This is a game called Peace-War-Peace. After some people knew their city was destroyed, they started to destroy the other’s city. But I am happy that some people didn’t do that. Why? Because they think this will make other people unhappy though they have already destroyed their own city. Everybody, please think, if these are the real cities, and there are real people living in the cities, it would be terrible.” We were all touched by what Jon said.
I will never forget this game. It tells me the meaning of love and forgiveness. We need peace but not wars. We live on the same earth, we should understand and love each other, no matter we are living in different cities or different countries!
